Process Tech Apprenticeship |
|
|
|
One of the most
critical positions at our Site is the Process Technician. Our Process Techs
in the Manufacturing Facility and Pilot Plant run the equipment and
processes that make our products. The skills and knowledge needed to be a
Process Technician are not often found in the workforce. As a result, Roche
Carolina developed the Process Technician Apprenticeship Program, a
three-year, federally-licensed apprenticeship.
The Apprenticeship Program consists of three phases. The first phase is the
six-month training class. In this half-classroom, half on-the-job-training
environment, you will learn and apply the basic skills you need to perform
as a Process Technician. Subjects such as Chemical Technology, Math and
Chemistry, as well as Safety, Environmental and Procedure training are
taught by fellow employees who are knowledgeable in these areas and excel in
the application of this knowledge.
After successfully completing the classroom training, you will continue to
Phases II and III over the next two and a half years, completing training
and demonstrating skills as you progress. Once you have earned your
apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to further your career and
increase your salary as you complete the skills necessary to qualify for a
Subject Matter Expert (Process Tech III) or Team Leader position. |
